Moderate quake jolts Myanmar
An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted an area near Homalin, a small town in Sagaing region, northwestern part of Myanmar at 9:46 a.m. local time (0316 GMT) on Monday, according to Myanmar's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The quake-hit area lies 336 kilometers northwest of Mandalay and 32 km northeast of Homalin.
The epicenter, with a depth of 121 km, was measured at 24.9 degrees north latitude and 95.2 degrees east longitude.
No immediate report about the casualty and damage is available.
